Pre-loved book sale this week.

As part of Book Week this week, Year 6 are holding a Pre-Loved Book Stall on Monday 24/8 to Thursday 27/8 at recess on the Valley. All books are just 50 cents each. A great opportunity for students to find and choose a book of interest to add to their home library and at the same time support the Year 6 fundraising efforts this year.

Science Week 2020 Deep Blue

On Tuesday, we celebrated Science Week by devoting the entire day to investigating water and the ocean. The day commenced with a multi-age group experiment about surface tension, after which the Year 5 students investigated rubbish pollution in the ocean and shared their design ideas for a machine which could pick up this waste.

Science Experiments

As well as enjoying a full day of science on Tuesday, Year 5 continued their weekly science lessons on the topic of 'Materials.' This week students were investigating how the shapes of different structures can affect their strength. They made different shaped columns out of paper and then placed books on top to test the strength. The students have enjoyed practicing the scientific skills of predicting, conducting experiments, recording results and making conclusions. Group work was the key and they really supported each other to achieve their best.

Science Experiments

The Science topic for Term 3 is 'Material World' which is taught by both Mrs Ward and Mrs Moran. Year 5 had some fun this week conducting experiments to investigate the absorbency of different materials. In order to carry out their experiment successfully, the students needed to predict, observe, analyse and work collaboratively.
