Learning History through Drama.

What was 'black birding'? How did Australia become a major exporter of pearls in the 1800s? Were there really German refugees coming to Australia in the early days of the colonies?  Year 5 have been investigating the contribution of some of the lesser-known groups of people to the development of the Australian colonies. They presented their findings in a range of creative scenarios in Drama. A single prop or costume item can help the performer step into role. Love the diving helmet, Saxon!

Imagine if ............

There was total immersion as the students composed their speeches in class last Monday. It was a pleasure to witness the absorption which was demonstrated as a result of students being well-prepared for the challenge. All students presented speeches which were engaging, informed and which incorporated some public speaking techniques to appeal to their audience.

RUOK Day

Thank you, Tahlia, for inspiring us to draw on the dispositions of empathy and listening to care for each other. What a spectacular demonstration of support from the girls!

R U OK Day?

R U OK Day was remembered across the school with students and staff wearing a touch of yellow. In Year 5 we watched a video message from Miguel Maestre who is an ambassador of R U OK Day. We spent some time discussing what the day means and how we can support those around us and also ask for help if we are feeling low. Well done to Tahlia Dawson for all her efforts in helping the school raise awareness of this important issue.
