A huge thank you!

What a special surprise today to be greeted with a gift to celebrate World Teacher's Day! Thank you for the thoughtful gifts and cards. Hilary and I are looking forward to enjoying the cafe vouchers and I will be planting my strawberry plant this weekend (if it doesn't rain too much!)

A beautiful day for sport at Palm Beach!

Year 5 are thoroughly enjoying our Friday sport session at Palm Beach this term. How fortunate we are to live in such a beautiful area and to enjoy games on the sand, followed by swimming in the pool. After 1 more week we will swap with Year 6 and it will be our turn to learn to surf!

Coming in at number one was ...........................

'Why did you chose to live on the Northern Beaches?'

Thank you, parents, for completing this survey for us. Coming in at number one was, 'Beaches and Oceans'. Other frequently occurring responses to the question were:  close to family, proximity to the city, lifestyle opportunities and low-density housing.

Each table group collated their parents' responses to this survey, tallied them up and recorded them in a graph. The activity provided a great opportunity to apply geographical skills and tools to a task.

Jack Heath author visit

Year 5 and 6 at Bayview and Dee Why enjoyed an author zoom visit on Thursday from the talented author 'Jack Heath.' Jack shared many inspiring ways for students to improve their writing. Following the author talk, the students set their own writing goals for Term 4 before following Jack Heath's tips and producing wonderful narratives of their own.

A few interesting things we learnt about Jack:

- Jack spends 100 hours writing a book and 200-300 hours editing!

- Jack wrote his first book when he was 13. It was published when he was 19.

Thank you to the Fabulous Year 5's and their families.
