Thank you to the Fabulous Year 5's and their families.

2020 has been a wonderful year of teaching for us. It has been such a pleasure to follow the Fab Fives through their learning journey in what has been a turbulent year.  We feel the students emerged from their off-campus experience more resilient and more cohesive as a year group. It was clear on Transition Day last year, that this year group had established a culture of learning which was evident in their class-wide tendency to become absorbed in tasks. They have carried this culture with them throughout the year and have strengthened it further through the give and take of reciprocal learning. We would like to thank every student in the class for enabling this to happen through their commitment to maintaining a positive and stimulating learning environment in which every student feels safe to take risks with their learning.

Thank you, parents, for all the gifts which you have sent in throughout the year. They provide a constant reminder of your support for us. The strawberry plant is just about to yield its first fruit and I have loved stopping at 8 Knots to pick up my long black on the way to school. The orchid dropped its last flower last week. And the beach bag tops them all! My life is a beach during the summer months and the bag and its contents have set us up for many pleasurable hours by the sea.

We would like to wish all of the Fab Fives and their families a very happy Christmas and we hope that there will be some fun and relaxing family time for you all.

Fun and Games at Flying Fox Park

Our final day in Year 5 was fabulous. After watching the staff versus Year 6 volley-ball match, the students walked to Flying Fox Park where they joined their peer support groups in a range of fun activities. After a sausage sizzle in the Valley, we came back to the class for our final farewells. Many small gifts and kind words were exchanged, once again, revealing the kindness and thoughtfulness of this wonderful cohort of students.

Thank you

Today was my last day teaching The Fab 5's. With the Year 6 assembly, surfing at the beach, carols, playing Kahoots in the afternoon and sharing our memories of the year, it was definitely a memorable day! I would like to say a huge thank you for your support as parents this year. It would have been lovely to get to know you more and see you face to face but unfortunately covid made that too difficult. Thank you for the generous gift of the lovely beach bag with many goodies inside. It was so kind. I am grateful for the time I have had teaching at St Lukes and will be leaving with many good memories, especially of the all the unique and special qualities of the students in Year 5.
